Abstract
Field education has always been part of social work degree programmes. The cooperation between the practice organisations and the universities of applied sciences is therefore of fundamental importance. The cooperation between the practice organisations and the universities of applied sciences is therefore of fundamental importance. With the Bologna reform, the focus shifted to competence orientation at the universities of applied sciences, competence profiles were developed and competences were assigned to practice training. Since competence profiles are to be understood as a whole in the sense of a comprehensive concept, these two places of learning must be related to each other. Competences in social work are not only acquired at one place of learning, it is always also a matter of the students' relational performance between practice and theory. This is the point of departure for this study, which examines how the Universities of Applied Sciences of Social Work in German-speaking Switzerland have described and conceptualised this re-lationship. The competence profiles and the acquisition of competences delegated to practice are examined within the framework of a document analysis, and experts from the respective university are interviewed. The empirically and theoretically supported findings are brought together in the form of conclusions and recommendations, which provide pointers for the conception of competence profiles and study programmes in social work.
