Abstract
This thesis consists of three chapters addressing critical dimensions of climate change impacts and responses, with a focus on agriculture and international environmental cooperation. The first chapter analyzes the effects of climate variability on perennial crop yields in Switzerland, using orchard-level data and a dynamic model of phenological development to assess risks from spring frost, warming, and seasonal shifts. The second chapter investigates farmers’ adaptive behavior in response to climate risks, based on survey data from Swiss fruit growers. It explores how perceptions, beliefs, and economic considerations influence adaptation decisions. The third chapter uses experimental methods within a principal-agent framework to study strategic delegation in the context of international climate cooperation. Together, the chapters contribute to a better understanding of how climate change affects both natural systems and human decision-making.
