Abstract
Large-scale hydrogen production using renewable sources is a key factor in achieving global decarbonization. To make this a reality, catalysts used for electrolysis need to be highly efficient, scalable, and cost-effective. The research presented focuses on the one hand on the development of novel self-supported catalysts for electrolysis using magnetron sputtering to achieve low loading and high activity, and on the other hand on measuring their performance under more realistic conditions using a gas diffusion electrode setup to accelerate the development phase.
